Having fallen off my push bike while riding around our farm I suffered only facial damage thanks to my protective helmet and also a damaged thumb.  Initially  I was  diagnosed with a thumb avulsion fracture and advised to wear a splint for 3 weeks before returning for a second x-ray.  However I took a second opinion and was advised by Mr Goon that this may result in a permanent weakness in my thumb if it was not operated on immediately and preferably before too much scar tissue had formed.  As this was during Covid restrictions obtaining an available operation date was near impossible within the 3 week window since the accident.  Mr Goon made a massive effort to fit me in at Lister Hospital.  I subsequently had the operation under general anesthetic where the ligament was reconstructed and a metal pin was inserted.  Six weeks later this was then removed and instructions for physio rehabilitation for the following two months were followed . The whole experience was painless and completed within the three weeks. Everything was very clearly explained and ran perfectly to time when I awoke from the Op Mr Goon was there to reassure me that the operation had been successful and with physio I should regain full movement. I am happy to say this was the case. Mr Goon and his team were very friendly and very professional.  I would certainly recommend Mr Goon in the future.

I first met Mr Patrick Goon in the Plastics department of Lister Hospital. I found the consultation was the first step of what I consider to be exceptional care. In October 2022 Mr Goon operated on my R Index finger pip joint for osteoarthritis. I cannot praise Mr Goon and all his team enough. From the moment of admission to discharge I received a high standard of care. Every action undertaken was explained fully, my questions were answered with expertise. The surgery was undertaken with a nerve block which meant I was fully awake. I was made to feel at ease, I chose some music to listen to, but I was also included in some conversation between Mr Goon and his registrar. I could hear the dialogue between them, discussing the procedure with Mr Goon having the time and patience to instruct / teach which is an important part of learning for junior doctors. It was a positive experience of which I thank Mr Goon for . Subsequent care at the physiotherapist hand clinic completed the whole experience. The surgery was highly successful and I am so pleased that my finger is now straight, functional with 75degree bend , pain free., something which I hadn’t experienced for a long time prior to the surgery, I am so grateful to the skill of Mr Patrick Goon.

I had an operation for a ruptured ligament in my Thumb, i was very fortunate to have Mr Goon and his team do the operation, they were very good and kept me informed if everything they were doing . I can’t thank them enough for the professional and caring staff they are. Highly recommend.

I have had excellent care from Patrick Goon and his team, both for a broken/dislocated finger and dupuytrens fasciectomy. As someone who relies on my fingers for work, I couldn't have expected a better outcome or better care. I felt that my circumstances and the importance to me of the work done were fully appreciated and understood by Patrick and the whole team.

My experience with Mr Goon was exceptional. He listened to my concerns entirely. Mr Goon considered a range of options, always maintaining my best interests at the forefront of his priorities, based on my age and symptoms. He persevered, with continuous and consistent outstanding patient care. My case was not clear cut, or "textbook" in any way, nevertheless, Mr Goon continually absorbed my feedback and worked with me to resolve my chronic wrist pain. Mr Goon's experience and knowledge reassured me, he articulated information in a considerate yet informative way. I never once left his office feeling confused or without a positive step forward. I cannot thank Mr. Goon enough for his efforts and knowledge. I owe so much to Mr Goon and I cannot recommend him enough.
